Our Alf lived to be an old boy and left us suddenly at the age of 14 years in 2016.

I’ve kept him on this site in recognition of the wonderful Vizsla and family pet that he was.

Alf loves to travel, for years he regularly left his island home for family holidays, agility trials and dog shows. His show and trialing days are long over but he remains available at stud to approved bitches that have been hip scored and health screened.

Alf has been conformation shown in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania. For years he was a consistent multi Best in Show, Best in Group, Best Class in Show and Group winner. Now 8 years old, his show career is over but he has continued travelling on family holidays and comes along to supervise the youngesters at the shows interstate. He has been known to occasionally make the odd appearance around the show circuit to train junior handlers. A job he is very proud of and takes seriously, watch out for the old dog, head held high strutting his stuff only breaking stride to correct the child that is about to make a wrong turn in the ring.

Alfs Achievements;

March 2004 finalist in the by invitation only Tasmanian Puppy of the year Competition.

April 2004 awarded Dog Challenge (23), by judge Mrs Paula Nykiel (USA) at the NSW Hungarian Vizsla Club Speciality Show.
Her critique is quoted as follows “Challenge dog for his excellent overall type, balance and soundness. Good type with correct proportions. Just the right amount of bone and substance. Beautiful head and overall outline. Clean efficient movement”

March 2005 Alf won intermediate in Show at both the Victorian and NSW Vizsla Specialities. He was a finalist in the prestigious Tasmanian Contest of Champions in April 2005.

May 2005 Alf gained his ET title.

In late 2005 Alf started agility training with Sharon and we have trialled in agility during 2006.
In December 2006 Alf gained his Jumping Dog title.

Alf’s favourite past times are flyball with Sharon, hunting with Matthew, playing ball and swimming at the beach with his best mates the family children. Alf has proved himself a good fisherman – one day pulling a large octopus out of the water, then throwing it on the rocks to us, before going back in to continue fishing.

Alf’s offspring entered the conformation ring and obedience trials in 2005 going on to become multi class in group and show winners.

He has produced offspring that have become number one bitch and dog in New Zealand.
